Here at Reentry Reimagined, we are deeply committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals reentering society after incarceration. Our goal is to facilitate a smoother transition back into the community, reducing the likelihood of recidivism by providing essential support and resources.
Our journey began in Grand Rapids, where the need for dedicated post-incarceration support was both clear and pressing. The idea took root this summer when a group of compassionate and experienced professionals came together to make a difference. Our team includes experts in medical care, corrections, and reentry services, all united by the common goal of fostering positive change.
We believe in the power of second chances. Many individuals released from prison struggle to reintegrate due to a lack of guidance and essential resources. By focusing on securing housing and offering tailored support, we aim to bridge this gap. Our approach is holistic, addressing both immediate needs and long-term reintegration goals.

Our Mission
Our mission is to empower formerly incarcerated individuals in their journey to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society. We strive to break down the barriers and stigmas associated with reentry, and create a supportive environment that fosters personal growth, healing, and community reintegration. Through comprehensive programs, resources, and advocacy, we aim to transform the reentry experience and ensure that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Co-Executive Director
Nick Nichols

Nick is the Co-Executive Director of Reentry Reimagined. He obtained his degree in Faith and Community Leadership from Calvin University. Nick has two decades of experience with Corrections and reentry work, assisting with higher education in prison and working to remove reentry barriers for formerly incarcerated people. In his free time, Nick enjoys hiking, handball, soft skills mentoring and being a workaholic.

Julie Bylsma, RN

Julie is the Co-Executive Director of Reentry Reimagined and a Registered Nurse. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she returned to South Philly to obtain her Nursing degree and study the role of medical care in the incarcerated and post-incarceration communities. Julie has 5 years experience in Prison and reentry work. In her free time, Julie enjoys playing soccer, reading books recommended by her librarian wife and walking her dog and cat (who thinks he is a dog).
